Through intercession prayer God reveals His heart. Intercession prayer is the heartbeat of God. Jesus himself, who died at the cross, rose to life and at the right hand of God, is interceding for us right at this moment (Romans 8:34).
So, what does intercession mean? To intercede, by Webster dictionary's definition is to intervene between parties with a view to reconciling differences. Thus, we mediate or become a mediator between God and people who are in need; for example: friends/families who do not know Jesus as their Savior, the sick that need Gods healing/miracle, the family that are in financial need, the addicts that needs Gods breakthrough in their lives, and the list goes on and on. Basically, intercession prayer means you are praying to God on behalf of a person/family/church/city/nation.
Right now, God has placed those needy people around us. It is our responsibility to pray for them. When we start to come in between God and His creation, we are given the authority to break every demonic power (2 Corinthians 10:4), to nullify every curse of the devil, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and to release the prisoners from darkness (Isaiah 61:1)
